Last Tuesday the Governing Council met via Zoom. We discussed the great work of our school staff over the past few months in these unique times. On behalf of the Governing Council and UPS parents, we would like to formally thank all staff –  teachers, SSOs and cleaning staff – for the outstanding job they have done to support our school community.

In a period where the rest of us practise social distancing while working from home, or in our work environment, our teachers continue to teach and turn up to work in an environment that was/is restrictive to social distancing measures.

They knew that their students and their families needed consistency, routines and support. They knew that kids were feeling confused, scared and frustrated. While Covid 19 was escalating, the teachers at Unley transformed their profession from face to face to online while at the same time continuing to teach.

We would like to thank Unley Primary staff for the professional work they do and the commitment they show to drive our children’s education each day. As a gesture of our appreciation, the Governing Council organised a coffee van to give teachers a much needed pick-me-up as they made plans for home learning during their last week of school! Julie and the rest of staff were thrilled!

On a final note, we would like to let you know that the meeting wasn’t as gloomy as the picture below may indicate – we had our Zoom faces on! We are, however, looking forward to holding our next meeting in person.
