This term in music lessons, the Year 1 – 6 students have been learning a Friendship Chant. Students have experimented with different voices, incorporated the beat and learnt to play the rhythm of the song as body percussion and on percussion instruments. The older students have created group arrangements of the chant incorporating elements they have used with learning the chant. Students have really embraced the link to Friendology in music.

The Reception students have been learning the names of, and to play different percussion instruments in the music room. They listened to a piece of classical music called ‘Syncopated Clock’ and acted out with scarves as well as adding percussion accompaniment to the song.

The Year 5/6 choir has commenced rehearsals learning the repertoire for the Festival of Music concert in Term 3. There are 41 students who have chosen to be part of the choir. This is fantastic! I am sure they will really enjoy the experience of singing and learning lots of different songs.
