Over much of Term 3, students in Rooms 18 and 19 showcased their technological talents by undertaking the Commissioner’s Digital Challenge.

The Commissioner has selected the ‘Multi-Use Robot’ design by Year 5 student, Aiden, to feature in the public Space to Dream exhibition at MOD’s (Museum of Discovery) throughout November 2020. This exhibition will move to other locations to be announced in due course.

Children and young people were challenged to design a toy or gadget for someone their age who is ‘moving to Mars’ using a design-thinking process.

The top-rated designs, which included Aiden’s, were then 3D printed onto mounted picture boards that will feature in the public exhibition at MOD (Museum of Discovery) in November 2020.

In the Space to Dream section of the challenge, Aiden used the Makers Empire app to design and build his entry. He enjoyed the challenge of brainstorming what his model could be, and using the technology to assist his thinking.

Year 5 students shared their ideas with each other and Aiden felt that the entire class tried really hard with some great outcomes. Our school was awarded the High Achiever School award from the Commissioner for exemplary participation in the Challenge in 2020.

Congratulations to Aiden and the Year 5 crew.
