To all members of the Unley Primary School Community,

Please note the information below is the same as was sent through to families earlier in the week:

As advice on offer continues to emerge, we would like to communicate with you our plan of action at Unley Primary School that provides clear direction for us all in the short term. Our strategy aims to reduce contact and provide as safe an environment as possible for our students, staff and families.

At this stage, there is no indication from the government that schools will be closed. If this does occur, we will advise families in regard to ongoing learning options.

The following strategies will be implemented at Unley Primary School as of today:

Cleaning/hygiene:  we are instigating extra measures in regard to hygiene and cleaning regimes across the school. We have invested in extra hours of cleaning to pay particular attention to surfaces, including door handles, desks, bannisters and switches. Hand drying in toilets has been addressed. Class teachers continue to reinforce key messages about hygiene with students.

Assemblies: all whole school assemblies will be cancelled until further notice, including Friday’s Harmony Day celebrations.

Excursions: we will postpone all school excursions as of Tuesday 17 March.

Student learning discussions:  any scheduled discussions will be postponed until further notice. We encourage you to contact your child’s class teacher via email should you have any pressing concerns.

School sport: parents will be advised about any changes to after-school sport arrangements.

School events: Sports Day will be postponed to later in the year. Our wonderful after school Market Day will also be re-scheduled.

These measures have the support of our Governing Council and staff. We expect that we will be in touch again soon as updated information comes to hand.

Please be sure to keep your child at home if they display cold-like symptoms. If a student shows any signs of being unwell whilst at school, they will be sent to the front office to be picked up by parents or caregivers.

Thank you for your understanding as we face the challenges ahead. We appreciate the messages of support that have been forthcoming from our school community.

Regards,

Peter, on behalf of staff
