The excitement is starting to build for our Year 2 students who occupy the Peppertree building.

Our wonderful Facilities Committee have been working hard to develop that scrappy piece of land between Cremorne St and the Peppertree building. The three garden beds – one for each class – will be ‘wicking beds’. These are garden beds with a waterproof lining that hold a reservoir of water at the bottom from which water is drawn upwards to the surface of the bed via natural soil osmosis or through the roots of plants in the bed (I Googled that bit).

We have been fortunate to have secured a Woolworths Landcare grant in 2019 to fund this project. Many thanks also to parent and committee member, Mark Rodda, who has kindly donated the 14,000L water tank. Mark and former grounds-person, Dirk, have rolled their sleeves up this week to make a start on the project. Saturday’s working bee will put some finishing touches on “Peppertree Gardens”.

We look forward to Term 2 plantings and hopefully some tasty treats heading towards the principal’s office.
