On Friday Unley Primary School students participated in the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. By wearing orange, they took a stand! During the week students had a range of experiences where they learnt more about bullying as well as antibullying strategies. The Upper Primary Students had a visit from the Adelaide Crime Prevention Police Department to speak to them about cyber bullying. Students were reminded not to share personal information with others online, to speak to a trusted adult if they were concerned and to think twice before they post.

Our SRC Executives spoke to our whole school community at assembly about the difference between being a bystander and an upstander. They shared strategies about how to be an upstander including; being a buddy, interrupting, speaking out and telling someone.

Classroom teachers continued to engaged students in a range of lessons where they learnt about the different kinds of bullying (physical, verbal and cyber). They also focused on the importance of making growing connections to help prevent bullying. When we all take responsibility and make a stand against bullying and violence, we can make a difference!
