The Year 2’s in Room 17 have been exploring the concept of ‘Places’ this semester.

What are the features of a place?

What are some places you feel connected to?

Why is being connected to a place important?

We began by exploring our planet earth and noted geographical divisions like the equator, that create our northern and southern hemispheres. We learned that the land masses on earth are represented by the 7 continents, and within each continent are many countries. Harmony Day showcased that many of us are connected countries across the globe.

Next, we zoomed in on our country Australia, particularly our state South Australia and the city of Adelaide. This led us to our journey of exploring our local school area of Unley!

We posed questions about the different places we noticed, collected data from our observations and discussed the connections we had. We will now analyse our findings and drawn some conclusions about the features of each place and how they serve our community.
