The world today is so different from how many of us grew up. Our children are constantly being bombarded with social media, online pressures and trying to make connections with their peers in an online world. The constant access to technology in a fast-paced world has impacted on the mental health of our children. To support our children with their wellbeing and learning to keep safe online, on Monday our staff participated in a day of CyberSafety and technology professional development. The day started with our guest speaker, CyberSafety guru Susan McLean. Susan led our staff through popular communication platforms and highlighted the importance of checking that the Apps children are using are age appropriate.  She spoke to the staff about grooming, sexting and cyberbullying.

In the afternoon Dale O’Connor led our staff for some digital technology based professional development. Staff had opportunities to develop skills in coding robots, using green screens and exploring 3D design software.

All in all, a great engaging and educational day for the Unley Primary staff. Please click here for some tips from Susan on how to keep your child safe online.
