Last week, on Thursday the 9th of June the year 6s went to West Lakes to participate in an aquatics program. The year 6s were split up into 9 groups with three groups doing each activity at a time and after each activity we would rotate. We did activities such as surfing, sailing and kayaking. After the first and second activities we were able to have a snack.

Surfing

For surfing we jumped into some wetsuits and walked down to Tennyson beach. First we sat down on the sand and listened to the safety instructions. Then we grabbed some boards and dived right into the freezing water. Even though it was pretty cold we were still able to catch some waves and have some fun.

Sailing

When it was time for sailing we listened to our instructor as he told us about the safety instructions. Then we walked through the water and climbed in the end of the boat. Then we helped our instructor get the boat ready and then we were off. As we got further down the lake our instructor let us have a go at sailing for a bit. Eventually time was up and we had to sail back to the aquatics center.

Kayaking

For kayaking we listened to the safety instructions and then we partnered up, got in our kayak and headed out. We paddled out and around the lake. It was very fun paddling around the lake but after a while we had to paddle back.

Conclusion

After the last activity we got changed into some warm and dry clothes and headed back to school. Which was nice because it was pretty cold but overall it was a fantastic experience and everyone had a great time.
