Term 1 Science focus will be Earth Space, which explores our place within the solar system. How daily and seasonal changes affect everyday life. Exploring the interconnections between the land, ocean, atmosphere, and life of our planet. How Earth is subject to change within and on its surface, over a range of timescales, as a result of natural processes and human use of resources. Lots of materials come from the Earth which we use in our everyday lives. Some resources are natural like the sun, water, air, plants and even dirt.

The Sun is our most important resource as it gives us light and heat.

Did you know it takes 8 minutes for the sunlight to reach the Earth?

Water is also important to us and all living things. Our Earth is a special planet because it has air, usable water and life.

Some resources can be grown or formed again like animals and plants. Other resources cannot be replaced like oil, coal and gold. We need to look after our resources and make them last.

Science and scientists try to find ways we can use our resources better and help look after what we have.

I think we all play our part and can do our best to look after our precious planet Earth.
