This week we went to the Aquatic Centre for swimming lessons. We had a great time learning about how to be safe in the water. In class we have been reading and writing poems. Here are some poems about swimming that include alliteration and onomatopoeia.

Swimming

Screech! The bus driver suddenly struggled to stop at the stop sign, and the students were startled.

Splash! Suddenly silly students shouted, “SHARK!”

Swoosh! Sensible students swam slowly like sloths.

Swimming

Splurch! Everyone slipped into their thongs, and you could hear the

squelching sound of the wetness of their slippery feet.

Blurb blurb! blowing bubbles under water.

Splash! As the students slid out of the pool, the drips were splashing onto the slippery ground.

Swimming

Splash! Some sinkers get surrounded by the water.

Chitter chatter! The class chats and chuckles on the bus.

Slip! The sensible students slide in to the shallow water.

Swimming

Splash! Swimmers started speeding down the lanes.

Dribble dribble! Divers dived down in the dark water.

Squirt! As people stepped out of their soggy bathers, they slowly got changed.

Bubble! People blew bubbly bubbles in the bubbly water.

Sprinkle! Slithery water slid down the waterslides as people slithered down too.
