Starting school for the first time comes with mixed emotions, for both children and parents; excitement, trepidation, joy, nervousness. Last week, 75 children started school for the first time with us at Unley Primary School.  It has been a very busy fortnight, and there have been so many new things to learn about and discover.

The yard at play times is certainly an adventure, but for some, can be a little daunting in the beginning.  One of the ways we support our younger children as they transition to school is to have play in The Vines area at lunch time.  There are lots of interesting things to do including constructing, drawing, water play, building with large blocks and creating interesting tracks for the trains.  It is also a wonderful place to make new friends, in a supported environment.

Many of the older buddies and peer support leaders often lend a hand – and they are kept very busy!
