Every Friday in the morning, you may see some big kids out in the yard after the bell. This is because the year 6 and 7 students from upstairs participate in a Round Robin competition every Friday. As a part of the competition, the Jacaranda classes are mixed to form teams which play a competitive game such as soccer, ultimate frisbee or four-way cricket. We track how the teams are performing over the term and to finish the tournament, we play finals. The games and teams are reset at the start of each term.

We have a lot of fun participating in this competition and it is always the highlight of the week. However, it’s not just all competitive. After the games are done, we all meet back in the common area and discuss the scores and results. Then the teachers give out the Good Sport Award to the person they thought was the best and fairest. This person is not always, in fact, quite often not, on the winning team. We have 5 awards presented every week, and we are proud to say that our Good Sport Award board is filling up!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers for organising Round Robin for us. We also thank Lucy Appleton, who volunteers to take a game each week. We could not go ahead without this incredible support.
