While upgrading network infrastructure might not be the most thrilling way to allocate a school budget, it is crucial for ensuring that our students and staff have access to reliable and high-speed technology. Over the summer holidays, the ICT Foundation Uplift project was executed smoothly and successfully, laying a strong foundation for the future.

The project involved a comprehensive upgrade of our network infrastructure to ensure a robust and stable platform at UPS. With contributions from the Department for Education helping to offset the overall costs, we were able to complete several critical tasks. Among these were civil works and backbone cabling, including the installation of new high-speed OM4 Fibre backbone cabling trenched between buildings. This upgrade has significantly improved Internet connectivity within those buildings, making it easier for students to access online resources.

We have also installed new wireless access points across the whole school, and upgraded 2 of our network cabinets with new switches. These upgrades place our school in a strong position for future ICT usage, ensuring that our students and staff can benefit from reliable, high-speed technology for years to come.
