Term 4 has already been a big term, with a lot of enjoyable community events and fun for the students.

Our students have had swimming, dance, assemblies, excursions, Jam Band and of course, Sports Day! Thank you to all our community members who were able to join us for Pancake Morning, Sports Day, Quiz Night, Instrumental Music Night and the Parent Learning Workshop.

We are incredibly grateful to our school community for your support this term. A lot of time and effort goes into organising our events and we have a few more to look forward to yet. A special mention to the Community and Fundraising team for their hard work in planning and preparing our community events. I strongly believe a primary school should be the hub of a community, where people can come together and build relationships as families. It is heart-warming to see our community come together and enjoy these experiences, after the difficult circumstances of the last few years.

This term over four Fridays, we welcome our new Reception students for 2023 to school for their orientation visits. Julie has set up a range of activities for the children to explore and it is lovely to meet the newest members of our community and their families. It is a great opportunity for our new Receptions to familiarise with our school grounds, our students, staff and each other.

Over the last few weeks I have been chairing a selection panel for the Assistant Principal at UPS role for the next 3 years. This position will have a teaching and learning focus of supporting staff, students and families with our Site Improvement Plan and priorities. An announcement will be made before the end of term.

At school, we have begun preparing for end of year events including Celebration night and Year 6 Graduation. Our teachers are busy writing end of year reports and we are well in to the class placement process for 2023. The children will have an opportunity to meet their new teachers and classes on Thursday of Week 9 this term during our transition morning. We are aiming to maintain a similar class structure to 2022, however this may vary slightly depending on final enrolment numbers. As has been communicated recently, please let the school know if your plans for 2023 have changed.

2023 planning is underway with a clear focus on continuing to improve our Literacy and Numeracy teaching and learning, innovating with our offerings in STEM learning, continuing to find ways to improve our learning spaces and taking on board your feedback from the Parent Survey.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening and learning this year about the wonderful things that happen at Unley Primary School and the areas for growth and improvement. Our Governing Council, staff and students have developed ideas from our Strategic Plan and we will continue to look to improve our school.

The opening of Campus 2 has been a huge milestone for our school and the collaborative spaces have already led to new and improved learning opportunities for our students. Year 3 and 4 classes have set up rotations and learning groups between classes and in the shared space. These opportunities allow students the chance to develop their problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Early next year we will continue to collaboratively plan for our future direction and I look forward to sharing this work with our community.

Thank you again for your support this term, we look forward to seeing all families at our upcoming Celebration Night.
