To celebrate Book Week and the theme ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’, Uncle Tamaru is visiting Unley Primary School.

Uncle Tamaru is a Kaurna elder, who is skilled in teaching students and adults traditional Kaurna symbols used in Kaurna artwork and Indigenous storytelling.

In keeping with our celebration of Reconciliation earlier this year, and our priority of fostering relationship and community, we are excited to have Uncle Tamaru visit and teach us more about Indigenous culture and stories. We will learn to dream in new ways and have our eyes opened to different perspectives and possibilities. This event is a great opportunity to further engage our students in the complexities of storytelling and to learn from and meet a highly regarded local Indigenous community leader.

Every class across the school will enjoy a session in the library with Uncle Tamaru while he is visiting us from Wednesday 24th August and Friday 26th. A permission note will be sent home soon for this exciting event.
