Dûsan and Voitre Artwork

On the 9th of September 2021, Rm 19 went on an excursion to the Art Gallery of South Australia. We went to see the artwork of Dûsan and Voitre Marek who were two young men from Czechoslovakia. They started surrealist painting in 1948 after arriving in Australia. They fled from Czechoslovakia in the aftermath of World War II.  They didn’t only do paintings, they also made films, jewellery, sculptures and drawings. We viewed many different surrealist artworks during the day. We also got the chance to try and draw some surreal artwork. We went into the Patch theatre (which was almost pitch black) where we painted and drew with UV light on a plastic floor. Overall, it was an amazing experience.
