This week to celebrate Science Week students during their library session learnt about ‘Scientific Observational Drawing’. We had a range of invertebrate specimens from the Nature Ed. Centre to observe and draw. Magnifying glasses helped a lot !

This type of drawing is often used when writing an information report, which is focus of our whole school writing programme at the moment.

We followed the steps:

A – Accurate (include shape, size, texture etc)

B – Big (enough to see all the details)

C – Colourful (use colours that you see on the object)

D – Detailed (include everything you can see)

E – Explained (Labels, info about what you notice, questions, wonderings)
