Unley Primary School has two Year 6/7 debating teams this year. Both teams are participating in the Debating SA competition. Debating has helped us improve our public speaking, critical thinking and research skills. Our topics this year have included:

  • That bicycles should be registered

  • That trampolines are good exercise for children

  • That Adelaide’s Giant Scotsman should be saved

  • Earth Hour is a waste of time

Both teams regularly meet on Thursdays after school, and a few lunchtimes a week. Our hard work has paid off, and both teams are ranked in the top 5 (out of over 100 teams)! We are looking forward to our upcoming two debates!
