Term 2 has, for all of us,  been a term like no other. It seems a lifetime ago that we were planning for online learning, with a minority of students in attendance, in the classroom. And then, in the blink of an eye, South Australia was looking healthy and safe and we were back to close on maximum attendance. The careful planning that staff engaged in has been useful nevertheless, shaping the learning for Term 2. We learned new ways of communicating, with Zoom technology soon becoming second nature.

In talking with both staff and students over these past few weeks, the highlight for many it seems was just being back here – together again. The risk of losing something we cherish and value brings into sharp focus, not just the importance of school, but of our school in particular. We have been so proud of the way in which the Unley Primary School community has gathered forces to make the best of things this term. We have appreciated the way in which families supported their children in their learning both at home and at school. Parents kept moving when the human instinct was to stay, gather and talk with friends after school. We have appreciated the way in which our teachers and SSOs maintained the focus on teaching, learning and wellbeing in a professional and committed manner. And, we have appreciated each and every student for their enthusiasm, engagement and contribution to their class and their school. Their pivotal role in our Zoom assemblies has been a highlight!

With two weeks of holiday ahead of us, we wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable break. We will look forward to seeing you back here for an undoubtedly busy Term 3.
