This fortnight, we challenge your family to craft a super sentence to describe one of these magical photos of children playing around the world.

You could start with an ordinary simple sentence and transform it using our re-crafting strategies. You can think about adding detail such as when, where and how (adverbs of time, place and manner). You may also like to add an adjective to help your reader create a clear image in their mind.

For example:

Before: The children jumped into the water.

After: On a warm summer’s day, the exuberant children leapt fearlessly into the sapphire blue water.

On a warm summer’s day (when/time), the exuberant children leapt fearlessly (how/manner) into the sapphire blue water (where/place).

We encourage you to share your writing with your class teacher, Peter, Julie or Miss Reid. We look forward to celebrating your super sentences at our next assembly.
