Boys from years 2 and 3 have just completed the Australian Rules Football season. This year Unley PS had both a year 2 team and a combined year 2 and 3 team competing in the Sturt zone of the SANFL Schools football association. The season consisted of 13 rounds of matches, including two night games and a lightning carnival. We made it through winter without too many games played in the wet or mud. All of the boys had a lot of fun both training on Thursday afternoons after school, and competing on Saturday mornings. For some it was their first taste of Aussie Rules, others played in their first games after doing Auskick clinics in previous years, while a handful of boys played club football as well!
Both teams developed their skills and team work throughout the season, as indicated by both teams winning far more than they lost. They certainly provided plenty of proud moments and entertainment for their parents. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
