Thursday the 12th of April was an exciting day, as we had our first fundraiser of the year, held by the SRC Executive team. We came to school dressed in casual clothes and brought in a coin donation to support Time for Kids, an organisation committed to helping children in disadvantaged situations.

Before the day, during the Week 10 assembly, a guest speaker came in to talk to us about his experience as a child who was supported by Time for Kids. When he was younger his family couldn’t take him on things like holidays or organise a birthday party for him. So, Time for Kids arranged a volunteer to support him once a week and give him an opportunity to do special things like this. It was through Time for Kids that he first had a birthday cake and a celebration for his birthday. This story stuck with many of us and we wanted to do all we could to support this worthwhile organisation.

The highlight of the fundraiser was a coin line-up competition which allowed each class to bring together all of their donations and make two long lines of coins – one silver and one gold. The class with the longest lines in each of these categories won a prize. Well done to Mrs Caire’s and Miss Reid’s classes for your great efforts which resulted in a first place victory!

We thank everyone who donated to this brilliant organisation, helping kids who need it. We had a fantastic day and are very proud to say that we raised $1225.35! Well done, everyone!
