What a fabulous day we had on Wednesday for our 2018 Sports Day.
While the weather was less than perfect Unley Oval looked a treat and students were as enthusiastic as ever. There is a great spirit at this school, supported by our student’s positive attitude and parents’ reinforcement of the things we believe to be important when it comes to competitive sport. Students’ appetite for participation in sport is shaped by the attitudes around them. To develop skills, improve fitness and work successfully as a team member, students require support, encouragement and practice. Our students are fortunate with home and school supporting these things. Congratulations to the House Captains— Manny, Sophie, Sammy, Bobby, Alex and Lily — for choreographing and leading the Health Hustle, as well as writing and encouraging their houses in the House Chants. Some of the shops on Unley Road commented that they always knew when Sports Day was about to take place as they could hear the competing House team practices at the school!
Many thanks to the parents who supported the class teachers with event management and for providing great support and encouragement across the day.
Our thanks go to the Duthy Street Fruit Market (67 Duthy St, Malvern), for their generous donation of over 520 pieces of delicious fruit to sustain out young athletes on the day.
Amy Reid and Dale O’Connor assumed a lead role in organising us for the big day and we appreciated their work and that of the staff Sports Day Committee. Finally, thanks to all class teachers, ancillary staff and students who helped make the day such a success.
Oh, and for the record, congratulations to Wattle who came out on top for the day!
